Police office, constable injured in attack by mob

Chhapra: A police officer and woman constable were injured when a mob attacked a police team at Bahrouli village under Mashrakh PS in Saran district on Tuesday.
Following the incident, the police arrested 36 people, including 23 women, for creating disturbance in discharge of govt duty.
Saran SP, Kumar Ashish, said on Tuesday that a police team from Mashrakh police station received information that a clash took place between two groups in a dispute over a cremation ground in Bahrouli village. Local people said the cremation ground was in use for a long time by the villagers, but recently a person claimed that the land belonged to him. After the clash, a group forcibly locked the injured people in a house and prevented them from going outside for treatment.
The police after reaching the village tried to release the injured. In the process, the other group attacked the police party, injuring a police officer and a woman constable. They were sent to Chhapra Sadar Hospital for treatment.
The police lodged an FIR in Mashrakh PS and arrested 36 accused. The arrested persons have been identified as Sanjai Rai, Binod Rai, Ramesh Rai, Chhathu Rai, Mandal Rai, Nagendra Kumar, Bipin Kumar, Indrajit Rai, Mokhtar Rai, Lakhandeo Rai, Suil Rai, Raj Kumar Rai, Jawahar Lal Rai, and 23 women—all natives of Bahrouli village.
