Patna: Four people, three of them from the same family, lost their lives in Nawada district on Wednesday after coming in contact with a fallen electric wire.
The incident occurred at Rajiv Nagar village under the jurisdiction of Nadriganj police station in the district, police said.
Of the four deceased, one was a truck driver while three of the same family were passengers of a bus. They were a woman, her daughter and son.
Police said the passengers were travelling from Rajgir (Nalanda district) to Khijarsarai in Gaya district. A tree had fallen on the road near Rajiv Nagar village.
The deceased were identified as Gauri Devi (35), wife of Pintu Rajvanshi, their son Kartik Kumar (5), and their three-year-old daughter Anu Kumari. They were residents of Nahuri village under Silav block of Nalanda. Another victim was Ranjit Kumar (35), the truck driver from Keshavpur in Beldari Tola, Gaya district.
The deceased woman’s brother, Jitendra Rajvanshi, said, “His sister Gauri Devi was travelling with her children by bus from Gaya’s Chayanpura to her in-laws’ place. On the way, a tree had fallen, trapping a truck. The bus driver thought he could get through and asked all passengers to disembark.”
“The truck driver warned not to go ahead as his vehicle was also stuck, but the bus driver didn’t listen and proceeded. As a result the accident took place,” Jitendra told police.
