Director of private hospital shot dead in city

Patna: Director of a private hospital in Patna was shot dead by unidentified assailants at Dhanuki Mor under the Agamkuan police station area on Saturday. The victim, Surbhi Raj (30), wife of Rakesh Roshan, succumbed to her injuries while undergoing treatment at AIIMS-Patna.
The incident occurred inside the director’s chamber at her hospital. The matter came to light when hospital staff entered the room and found Surbhi lying in a pool of blood with multiple gunshot wounds. Patna SP (East) K Ramdas, Patna City SDPO I Atulesh Jha, and officers from Agamkuan police station rushed to the spot on getting information. A forensic team and a dog squad were also deployed.
SDPO Jha said the police received information about the shooting around 3.30pm. “When the police team arrived to verify the incident, they were informed that some staff members had found her unconscious and covered in blood inside her chamber. She was moved to the ICU, where it was found that she had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. From there, she was transferred to AIIMS. In the evening, news of her death was received. The police are investigating all aspects of the incident using both technical and human intelligence,” he said.
“The police are reviewing CCTV footage and questioning people. However, there is no camera near the director’s chamber. There were also no signs of forced entry into her room. The staff on duty were not nearby at the time and claimed they neither saw anyone enter nor heard any gunshots. Prima facie, it appears that insiders may have been involved in the murder. The motive behind the killing is yet to be determined,” Jha said.
Police recovered five empty bullet shells from the crime spot. According to investigators, bullet wounds were found on Surbhi’s hands, face and chest.
