Three children from the same family were found dead at their residence in Raghavendra Nagar, Ameenpur of Hyderabad in the wee hours of Friday (March 28, 2025).
The deceased were identified as 12-year-old Sai Krishna, 10-year-old Madhu Priya and 8-year-old Gautham. Their mother, Avuri Chintala Rajitha alias Lavanya, a teacher at a private school, is currently undergoing treatment at a private hospital after complaining of severe stomach pain.
According to Ameenpur police inspector Naresh, the tragedy came to light after a distress call from a neighbour alerted the police to the family’s medical emergency.
“When we arrived at the scene, the children were found dead with white froth on their mouths. Rajitha was rushed to the hospital and is currently in a stable condition,” the officer stated.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the children may have died due to food poisoning. Investigation is underway to ascertain the circumstances that led to their death.
“Rajitha’s husband, Chennaiah, a water tanker driver, returned home from work at around 11:30 p.m. The family had dinner and went to bed. At approximately 2:30 a.m., Rajitha woke up complaining of severe pain, and the couple allegedly discovered their children lying unresponsive,” the officer added.
Following a complaint lodged by Chennaiah’s brother, Keshava, a case has been registered. The Ameenpur police have taken Chennaiah into custody for questioning, while the children’s bodies have been shifted to Gandhi Hospital for postmortem examination.
