The Tirumala traffic police have rescued two children who got stuck in an SUV and were gasping for breath.
The children have been identified as Bhanu (7) and Neela (4), children of Venkatasubba Reddy and Sumalatha hailing from Badvel town in Kadapa district.
Mr. Venkatasubba Reddy is employed abroad. Ms. Sumalatha, along with her children and the family members of Mr. Venkatasubba Reddy’s brother Gangaiah, came to Tirumala on a pilgrimage .
While the ladies in the group chose to trek the Tirumala Hills from Alipiri, Mr. Gangaiah and his relative brought the children to Tirumala by a car. Mr. Gangaiah and his relative locked the children inside the car at a parking lot, and went away to find the way to reach the Tirumala temple.
Meanwhile, the children felt suffocated inside the car and started crying. The taxi drivers in the parking lot alerted the Tirumala traffic police personnel, who broke the windscreens and brought the children opit of the car.
The children were rushed to a hospital for first-aid.
Traffic home guard Jayachandra and security guard Venkatesh handed over the children to Tirumala One Town police and lodged a complaint against Mr. Gangaiah for negligence.
